January Trips

Lake Kaurapataka – Arthurs Pass         21st/22nd January 2017

Driving over Arthurs Pass and down to Acikens on the West Coast Road. The tramp begins with a fairly major crossing of the Otira River, then up the Taramakau to the Otehake, and we camp at the mouth of the Otekahe gorge. Return via Lake Kaurapataka. A fairly straightforward tramp but lots and lots of river crossings. If the weather is wet, this will have to be postponed.

Mt Dobson
Saturday 8th or
Sunday 9th April, depending on the weather forecast.
Graded:  Moderate                          Map:  BY 17
We will climb Mt Dobson from the East side. There will be two parties, a summit group and the other will tramp up the North Spur and return the same way. The North Spur is on the same route as the summit party. We will drive some of the way through the neighbours paddocks. This is a magic trip with outstanding views. We do not go up the ski field road.
It will be a full day for the summit party!
